Surrey is one of the easier places in the Lower Mainland to build a proper home gym. Most homes are detached and freehold, sitting on lots that came with a double garage, a full basement, or both. That means more square footage to spec against, no strata approvals for most clients, and simpler install-day logistics — park in the driveway, walk it through the garage bay, done.
Full-depth power racks, dual cable columns, hack squats, and full dumbbell walls all fit in most Surrey builds without compromise on the piece.

Full basements
Newer Surrey builds in Panorama Ridge, Morgan Creek, and Grandview Heights often have 800 to 1,200 square feet of finished basement to work with. Room enough for a full rack, cable machine, dumbbell wall, and a cardio corner, without the room feeling packed.
Double-car garages
A common Surrey and Langley pick. 400 to 500 square feet of slab with high ceilings and roll-up door access on install day. Rubber flooring goes down first, then a full rack plus cable and free-weight setup. Some clients keep one bay for parking; most convert the whole thing.
Dedicated gym rooms
Custom builds and renovations in South Surrey and Cloverdale sometimes include a purpose-built gym room off the primary suite or in a bonus wing. Ceiling height and mirror walls get planned into the framing. Great for Smith machines and overhead pressing.
Install Day
Home gym installation in Surrey.
Install day in Surrey is usually the simplest in Metro Vancouver. Freehold detached homes with driveway parking and garage or basement access remove most of the logistics we plan around downtown. We still walk the route first.
- Driveway access. We park a full-size cargo truck in your driveway for the day. No permits, no time restrictions, no coordinating with neighbours in most Surrey neighbourhoods.
- Garage bay entry. For garage builds, we unload directly into the space. For basement builds we usually route through the garage-to-basement door if there is one, which avoids stairs.
- Stair turns. If the build is in a basement with only an interior stair route, we measure the tightest turn first. Larger racks and Smith machines may need to be split for the descent and reassembled in the room.
- Flooring first. Commercial rubber flooring goes down before any equipment. This protects both the slab or subfloor and the equipment feet, and it dampens sound for the room above.
